Our Insight into Work programme gives members and their families the opportunity to gain valuable experience at Royal London
We launched our Insight into Work scheme in 2017 to give members and their direct families the opportunity to take part in work experience at Royal London. This is the third year we’re offering work experience opportunities exclusively to our members, with the programme open to anyone aged 14 and above, whatever stage of life or career they may be at.
Over the last two years, we’ve provided 36 of you and your family members with work experience placements – whether that’s been for one or two-week’s observation or a full four-week work placement. In 2017, one of our member work experience placements even secured a permanent role at Royal London – you can read more about this in our article.
We currently have over 30 placements available this year. Opportunities are available in various teams throughout Royal London, and each placement will have its own duration and availability date. The options available include:
Four week Work Taster placement
The four-week Work Taster placement is designed to provide you with a detailed insight into a role where you will perform tasks and work as part of a team. Your placement will provide you with the necessary access and support from your team and will be paid at a minimum wage rate. This placement is ideal for anyone who is looking for a more in-depth experience.
One or two-week Educational Work Experience placement
The Educational Work Experience placement is designed to provide you with insight into a role through observing the team performing their day-to-day work. Your placement will provide you with support from your team and Line Manager, and you will receive a reimbursement of lunch and local travel costs you have incurred. This placement is ideal for anyone who is attending school, college or university. For educational institutions that only require a one-week placement, we will review these applications on a case-by-case basis.
The aim of Insight into Work is to provide members and their families with experience of work at any point in their career. So far, we’ve welcomed mostly those looking for experience while still in education, but it could be that you’ve taken a career break and want to try something new. You could also be simply wondering if another career might be better suited to your abilities – playing to people’s strengths is something we’re all about at Royal London.
So, take a look at our opportunities on offer and if you don’t see what you’re looking for, please contact us at mbxinsight@royallondon.com. We plan to add further opportunities throughout the year, so please keep checking the members website.
Our opportunities are usually allocated on a first come, first served basis, so why not have a look now to secure a placement? To apply, all you’ll need is a few details plus your member reference number, which you can find at the bottom of your Member Update email.
